Admiral Duncan

Admiral Duncan is a small popular gay pub on Old Compton Street opposite Comptons. The entire front of the pub opens up on to the street, there is only standing area, and the pub gets very busy on weekends. The pub always has a good atmosphere, with music playing, friendly staff, and is a good place to meet other guys.

The pub is still remembered for the Soho Bombing. At around half-past 6 on the evening of Friday 30th April 1999, three people were killed and dozens injured when a nail bomb exploded in the Admiral Duncan pub. This was the third and last bomb planted by paranoid schizophrenic David Copeland. He was a neo-Nazi former BNP member who had targeted the Black community of Brixton 2 weeks earlier and the Asian community of Brick Lane a week earlier. He was arrested 3 hours after planting the bomb.
